Overview

  • Acetivibrio ethanolgignens is a Gram-negative, non-spore-forming, strictly anaerobic, motile, rod-shaped - curved bacterium. It has been detected in at least 1 gut microbiome compilation study or metastudy. The DNA G+C content is 40%. Acetivibrio ethanolgignens is probably a common, although minor, coloniser of the gut. (Robinson1981; Zou2021)

  • This organism has been recovered from colon of pigs with dysentry. The risk classification (www.baua.de) for this organism is 2, i.e., risk of individual infection, but low risk of spread (notes: pathogen for vertebrates; humans are not infected under natural conditions.). Could be a possible pathogen in humans, but unknown at this stage. A possible gut commensal.
