Overview

  • Acetivibrio saccincola, (aka Herbivorax saccincola), is a Gram-positive, spore-forming, strictly anaerobic, non-motile, rod-shaped bacterium. It has been detected in at least 1 gut microbiome compilation study or metastudy. The DNA G+C content is 34.9%. Acetivibrio saccincola is likely to be transient and not a long-term gut coloniser. (Koeck2016)

  • This organism has been recovered from thermophilic lab-scale biogas fermenter, Germany. Pathogenicity status unknown, or very unlikely to be pathogenic. Likely to be transient and not a long-term gut commensal.

  • QUIRKS
  • Thermophilic. Doesn't grow at 37C so unlikely to be a gut coloniser.
