Overview

  • Acetomicrobium hydrogeniformans, (aka Anaerobaculum hydrogeniformans), is a Gram-negative, non-spore-forming, strictly anaerobic, motile, rod-shaped bacterium. It has been detected in at least 3 gut microbiome compilation studies or metastudies. The DNA G+C content is 46.6%. Acetomicrobium hydrogeniformans is likely to be transient and not a long-term gut coloniser. (Maune2012; Hania2016)

  • This organism has been recovered from oil-contaminated water and human faeces. Pathogenicity status unknown, or very unlikely to be pathogenic. A possible gut commensal.

  • QUIRKS
  • Reduces thiosulfate, sulfur and cysteine to sulfide. High optimum growth temperature so unlikely to be a gut coloniser.

  • GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS (Maune2012); (Hania2016);
