Overview

  • Acinetobacter bereziniae, (aka Acinetobacter genomospecies 10), is a Gram-negative, non-spore-forming, strictly aerobic, variably-motile, coccobacillus bacterium. It has been detected in at least 1 gut microbiome compilation study or metastudy. Acinetobacter bereziniae is likely to be transient and not a long-term gut coloniser. (Nemec2010)

  • This organism has been recovered from millk, human faeces (Dijkshoorn2005), clinical specimens (trachea, sputum, uring - CCUG) and the environment. Can cause opportunistic infections, particularly in immunocompromised people. Likely to be transient and not a long-term gut commensal.

  • QUIRKS
  • Obligate aerobe; unlikely to be a gut coloniser.
