Overview

  • Acinetobacter guillouiae, (aka Acinetobacter genomospecies 11), is a Gram-negative, non-spore-forming, strictly aerobic, non-motile, coccobacillus bacterium. It has been detected in at least 1 gut microbiome compilation study or metastudy. Acinetobacter guillouiae is probably a rare gut coloniser. (Nemec2010)

  • This organism has been recovered from human faeces (Dijkshoorn2005), clinical sources (wound, infection, sputum, urine - CCUG) and the environment. Can cause opportunistic infections, particularly in immunocompromised people. Likely to be transient and not a long-term gut commensal.

  • QUIRKS
  • Obligate aerobe; has been found in the faeces of non-hospital patients in Leiden (Dijkshoorn2005).
