Overview

  • Acinetobacter pittii, (aka Acinetobacter genomospecies 3), is a Gram-negative, non-spore-forming, strictly aerobic, non-motile, coccobacillus bacterium. It has been detected in at least 3 gut microbiome compilation studies or metastudies. The DNA G+C content is 41-42%. Acinetobacter pittii is likely to be transient and not a long-term gut coloniser. (Nemec2011; Bouvet1986)

  • This organism has been recovered from human faeces, clinical specimens (sputum, urine, wound - CCUG) and the environment. It is an opportunistic pathogen. Likely to be transient and not a long-term gut commensal.

  • QUIRKS
  • Obligate aerobe; unlikely to be a gut coloniser.
