Overview

  • Acinetobacter radioresistens, (aka Acinetobacter genomospecies 12), is a Gram-negative, non-spore-forming, aerobic, non-motile, bacterium. It has been detected in at least 4 gut microbiome compilation studies or metastudies. The DNA G+C content is 44.1-44.8%. Acinetobacter radioresistens is probably a rare gut coloniser. (Nishimura1988; Juni2005Bergey)

  • This organism has been recovered from soils, cotton clinical sources (blood, infection - CCUG) and human faeces. The risk classification (www.baua.de) for this organism is 1, i.e., low risk of infection and spread. Can cause opportunistic infections, particularly in immunocompromised people. A possible gut commensal.
