Overview

  • Aeromonas media is a Gram-negative, non-spore-forming, aerobic, variably-motile, rod-shaped bacterium. It has been detected in at least 2 gut microbiome compilation studies or metastudies. The DNA G+C content is 62.3%. Aeromonas media is probably a rare gut coloniser. (Allen1983; Igbinosa2012; MartinCarnahan2005Bergey)

  • This organism has been recovered from human faeces, diarrheal disease and aquatic sources. The risk classification (www.baua.de) for this organism is 1, i.e., low risk of infection and spread. It is an opportunistic pathogen. It's gut microbiome symbiotic status is unknown.
