Overview

  • Anaerococcus provencensis, (aka Anaerococcus provenciensis), is a Gram-positive, non-spore-forming, strictly anaerobic, non-motile, coccus bacterium. It has been detected in at least 1 gut microbiome compilation study or metastudy. Anaerococcus provencensis is probably a rare gut coloniser. (LaScola2011; Pagnier2014)

  • This organism has been recovered from human faeces (Lagier2016). Pathogenicity status unknown, or very unlikely to be pathogenic. A possible gut commensal.
