Overview

  • Anaerostipes hominis is a Gram-variable, spore-forming, strictly anaerobic, rod-shaped bacterium. The DNA G+C content is 43.5%. Anaerostipes hominis is probably a rare gut coloniser. (Lee2021)

  • This organism has been recovered from human faeces (Lee2021). Pathogenicity status unknown, or very unlikely to be pathogenic. A possible gut commensal.

  • QUIRKS
  • From a patient with Crohn's disease. Produces butyrate, propionate, oxaloacetate and fumarate from fermentation.
