Overview

  • Anaerotignum lactatifermentans, (aka Clostridium lactatifermentans), is a Gram-negative, non-spore-forming, strictly anaerobic, non-motile, rod-shaped bacterium. It has been detected in at least 8 gut microbiome compilation studies or metastudies. The DNA G+C content is 44.6%. Anaerotignum lactatifermentans is a common gut coloniser. (vanderWielen2002; Ueki2017; Rainey2011hBergey)

  • This organism has been recovered from human faeces, and caeca of a chicken. The risk classification (www.baua.de) for this organism is 1, i.e., low risk of infection and spread. Pathogenicity status unknown, or very unlikely to be pathogenic. A possible gut commensal.
