Overview

  • Asaccharospora irregularis, (aka Clostridium irregulare), is a Gram-positive, spore-forming, anaerobic, motile, rod-shaped bacterium. It has been detected in at least 5 gut microbiome compilation studies or metastudies. Asaccharospora irregularis is probably a rare gut coloniser. (Gerritsen2014; Rainey2011fBergey)

  • This organism has been recovered from human faeces, lesions, soil and horses. It is an opportunistic pathogen. Is a known gut commensal.
