  • Bacillus kwashiorkori is a Gram-positive, spore-forming, facultatively anaerobic, motile, rod-shaped bacterium. The DNA G+C content is 35.2%. Bacillus kwashiorkori is probably a rare gut coloniser. (Seck2018)



  • This organism has been recovered from the faeces of a child with acute malnutrition. Pathogenicity status unknown, or very unlikely to be pathogenic. A possible gut commensal.
