Overview

  • Bifidobacterium saguini is a Gram-positive, non-spore-forming, facultatively anaerobic, non-motile, pleiomorph rod-shaped bacterium. It has been detected in at least 2 gut microbiome compilation studies or metastudies. The DNA G+C content is 57.3%. Bifidobacterium saguini is probably a rare gut coloniser. (Endo2012)

  • This organism has been recovered from the faeces of a red-handed tamarin, South Africa. Pathogenicity status unknown, or very unlikely to be pathogenic. A possible gut commensal.
