Overview

  • Bordetella trematum is a Gram-negative, non-spore-forming, aerobic, motile, coccobacillus bacterium. It has been detected in at least 2 gut microbiome compilation studies or metastudies. The DNA G+C content is 65%. Bordetella trematum is unlikely to be a gut coloniser. (Vandamme1996a; Sanden2005Bergey)

  • This organism has been recovered from clinical sources (ear infections, blood, wounds). The risk classification (www.baua.de) for this organism is 2, i.e., risk of individual infection, but low risk of spread. Is a known human pathogen. Unlikely to be a commensal.
