Overview

  • Brevibacterium pityocampae is a Gram-positive, non-spore-forming, aerobic, non-motile, rod-shaped bacterium. It has been detected in at least 2 gut microbiome compilation studies or metastudies. The DNA G+C content is 69.8%. Brevibacterium pityocampae is probably a rare gut coloniser. (Kati2010)

  • This organism has been recovered from human faeces and caterpillars. Pathogenicity status unknown, or very unlikely to be pathogenic. A possible gut commensal.
