Overview

  • Campylobacter lari subsp. concheus is a Gram-negative, non-spore-forming, microaerophilic, motile, rod-shaped - curved bacterium. The DNA G+C content is 31-33%. Campylobacter lari subsp. concheus is probably a rare gut coloniser. (Debruyne2009; Vandamme1991)

  • This organism has been recovered from human faeces (diarrhoea - CCUG), an infection and shellfish. The risk classification (www.baua.de) for this organism is 2, i.e., risk of individual infection, but low risk of spread. It is an opportunistic pathogen. A possible gut commensal.
