Overview

  • Cellulosimicrobium cellulans is a Gram-positive, non-spore-forming, facultatively anaerobic, non-motile, club-shaped-shaped bacterium. It has been detected in at least 3 gut microbiome compilation studies or metastudies. The DNA G+C content is 74%. Cellulosimicrobium cellulans is probably a rare gut coloniser. (Schumann2001)

  • This organism has been recovered from human faeces and clinical sources (CCUG). The risk classification (www.baua.de) for this organism is 1, i.e., low risk of infection and spread. Could be a possible pathogen in humans, but unknown at this stage. Is a known gut commensal.
