Overview

  • Clostridium merdae is a Gram-positive, spore-forming, strictly anaerobic, motile, rod-shaped bacterium. The DNA G+C content is 45.3%. Clostridium merdae is probably a rare gut coloniser. (Alou2018; Ndongo2017a)

  • This organism has been recovered from human faeces (Alou2018). Pathogenicity status unknown, or very unlikely to be pathogenic. A possible gut commensal.
