Overview

  • Clostridium neonatale is a Gram-positive, spore-forming, strictly anaerobic, motile, rod-shaped bacterium. It has been detected in at least 7 gut microbiome compilation studies or metastudies. The DNA G+C content is 28.5%. Clostridium neonatale is probably a common, although minor, coloniser of the gut. (Bernard2018)

  • This organism has been recovered from human faeces and clinical sources (blood - CCUG). Is a rare opportunistic pathogen. A possible gut commensal.
