Overview

  • Corynebacterium bovis is a Gram-positive, non-spore-forming, aerobic, non-motile, club-shaped-shaped bacterium. It has been detected in at least 1 gut microbiome compilation study or metastudy. The DNA G+C content is 67.8-69.7%. Corynebacterium bovis is probably a rare gut coloniser. (Bernard2012Bergey)

  • This organism has been recovered from commensal on cow's udder. The risk classification (www.baua.de) for this organism is 2, i.e., risk of individual infection, but low risk of spread (notes: human and animal pathogen). It is an opportunistic pathogen. A possible gut commensal.
