Overview

  • Corynebacterium ureicelerivorans is a Gram-positive, non-spore-forming, facultatively anaerobic, non-motile, rod-shaped bacterium. It has been detected in at least 3 gut microbiome compilation studies or metastudies. Corynebacterium ureicelerivorans is probably a rare gut coloniser. (Pfleiderer2013; Yassin2007; Bernard2012Bergey)

  • This organism has been recovered from clinical sources (blood - CCUG) and human faeces. The risk classification (www.baua.de) for this organism is 1, i.e., low risk of infection and spread (notes: opportunistic in immunocompromised patients). Is a rare opportunistic pathogen. A possible gut commensal.
