Overview

  • Dehalobacterium formicoaceticum is a Gram-positive, strictly anaerobic, non-motile, short rod-shaped bacterium. It has been detected in at least 1 gut microbiome compilation study or metastudy. The DNA G+C content is 42.7%. Dehalobacterium formicoaceticum is likely to be transient and not a long-term gut coloniser. (Magli1996)

  • This organism has been recovered from dichloromethane-contaminated groundwater. Pathogenicity status unknown, or very unlikely to be pathogenic. Likely to be transient and not a long-term gut commensal.

  • QUIRKS
  • Uses dichloromethane as an energy and carbon source.
