Overview

  • Delftia acidovorans is a Gram-negative, non-spore-forming, strictly aerobic, motile, rod-shaped bacterium. It has been detected in at least 4 gut microbiome compilation studies or metastudies. The DNA G+C content is 67–69%. Delftia acidovorans is probably a rare gut coloniser. (Wen1999; Sly2005Bergey)

  • This organism has been recovered from human faeces, soil, water sources and clinical samples (blood - CCUG). The risk classification (www.baua.de) for this organism is 1, i.e., low risk of infection and spread. Is a rare opportunistic pathogen. Is a known gut commensal.

  • NOTES

Unusually, able to utilise butanol, 2,3-butanediol, DL-norvaline, and both D-kynurenate and L-kynurenate isomers directly.  Some strains also utilise acetamide, D-tryptophan, 2-aminobutyrate or 3-aminobutyrate.
