Overview

  • Desulfitobacterium dichloroeliminans, (aka Desulfitobacterium dichloroeliminans strain DCA1), is a Gram-positive, non-spore-forming, anaerobic, motile, rod-shaped - curved bacterium. It has been detected in at least 1 gut microbiome compilation study or metastudy. Desulfitobacterium dichloroeliminans is likely to be transient and not a long-term gut coloniser. (DeWildeman2003)

  • This organism has been recovered from dichloroethane-contaminated groundwater. Pathogenicity status unknown, or very unlikely to be pathogenic. Likely to be transient and not a long-term gut commensal.

  • QUIRKS
  • Enterococcus casseliflavus is isolated with D. dichloroeliminans in a bibacterial commensal relationship. Dechlorinates 1,2-dichloromethane.
