Overview

  • Dysosmobacter welbionis is a Gram-negative, non-spore-forming, strictly anaerobic, non-motile, rod-shaped bacterium. It has been detected in at least 1 gut microbiome compilation study or metastudy. The DNA G+C content is 58.9%. Dysosmobacter welbionis is a common gut coloniser. (LeRoy2020)

  • This organism has been recovered from human faeces (Roy2020). Pathogenicity status unknown, or very unlikely to be pathogenic. Is a known gut commensal. Robust growth can have positive consequences for gut health.

  • QUIRKS
  • Recently discovered but reported to be widespread ("up to 70% of the population").
