Overview

  • Elusimicrobium minutum is a Gram-negative, non-spore-forming, strictly anaerobic, non-motile, pleiomorph rod-shaped bacterium. It has been detected in at least 1 gut microbiome compilation study or metastudy. Elusimicrobium minutum is likely to be transient and not a long-term gut coloniser. (Geissinger2009)

  • This organism has been recovered from termite gut. Pathogenicity status unknown, or very unlikely to be pathogenic. A possible gut commensal.

  • QUIRKS
  • Produces alanine as a metabolic endpoint. Doesn't grow at 37C so probably not a coloniser of the gut.

  • GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS (Geissinger2009);
    Character Response
