Overview

  • Enterobacter cloacae subsp. dissolvens, (aka Enterobacter dissolvens), is a Gram-negative, non-spore-forming, facultatively anaerobic, motile, rod-shaped bacterium. It has been detected in at least 1 gut microbiome compilation study or metastudy. The DNA G+C content is 55%. Enterobacter cloacae subsp. dissolvens is probably a rare gut coloniser. (Hoffmann2005a; Brenner1986)

  • This organism has been recovered from maize and clinical sources (blood, abdomen, skin abscess). The risk classification (www.baua.de) for this organism is 1, i.e., low risk of infection and spread. It is an opportunistic pathogen. A possible gut commensal.
