Overview

  • Faecalicatena fissicatena, (aka Eubacterium fissicatena), is a Gram-positive, non-spore-forming, strictly anaerobic, non-motile, coccobacillus bacterium. It has been detected in at least 2 gut microbiome compilation studies or metastudies. The DNA G+C content is 50.5%. Faecalicatena fissicatena is probably a common, although minor, coloniser of the gut. (Sakamoto2017; Taylor1972)

  • This organism has been recovered from the alimentary tract of a goat. The risk classification (www.baua.de) for this organism is 1, i.e., low risk of infection and spread. Pathogenicity status unknown, or very unlikely to be pathogenic. A possible gut commensal.

  • QUIRKS
  • In 50% of Europeans (unseenbio.com). Minor coloniser.

  • GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS (Sakamoto2017); (Taylor1972);
