Overview

  • Gabonibacter massiliensis is a Gram-negative, non-spore-forming, strictly anaerobic, motile, coccobacillus bacterium. It has been detected in at least 1 gut microbiome compilation study or metastudy. The DNA G+C content is 42.1%. Gabonibacter massiliensis is probably a common, although minor, coloniser of the gut. (Mourembou2016a)

  • This organism has been recovered from human faeces (Bilen2018e) and clinical specimens (blood - CCUG). Can cause opportunistic infections, particularly in immunocompromised people. A possible gut commensal.

  • QUIRKS
  • In 31% of Europeans (unseenbio.com). Minor coloniser.
