Overview

  • Gallibacterium anatis, (aka Pasteurella anatis), is a Gram-negative, non-spore-forming, facultatively anaerobic, non-motile, rod-shaped bacterium. It has been detected in at least 2 gut microbiome compilation studies or metastudies. The DNA G+C content is 39.9-42.6%. Gallibacterium anatis is probably a rare gut coloniser. (Christensen2003; Mutters1985)

  • This organism has been recovered from duck intestines. The risk classification (www.baua.de) for this organism is 2, i.e., risk of individual infection, but low risk of spread (notes: animal pathogen). It is an opportunistic pathogen. A possible gut commensal.
