Overview

  • Hafnia paralvei, (aka Hafnia alvei genomosp. 2), is a Gram-negative, non-spore-forming, facultatively anaerobic, motile, rod-shaped bacterium. It has been detected in at least 2 gut microbiome compilation studies or metastudies. The DNA G+C content is 49.8%. Hafnia paralvei is probably a rare gut coloniser. (Huys2010)

  • This organism has been recovered from human faeces and clinical sources (blood, urine - CCUG). It is an opportunistic pathogen. A possible gut commensal.
