Overview

  • Haploplasma axanthum, (aka Acholeplasma axanthum), is a Gram-negative, facultatively anaerobic, coccobacillus bacterium. It has been detected in at least 2 gut microbiome compilation studies or metastudies. Haploplasma axanthum is likely to be transient and not a long-term gut coloniser. (Tully1970)

  • This organism has been recovered from murine leukemia tissue culture. The risk classification (www.baua.de) for this organism is 2, i.e., risk of individual infection, but low risk of spread (notes: animal pathogen). Pathogenicity status unknown, or very unlikely to be pathogenic. Likely to be transient and not a long-term gut commensal.
