Overview


  • Holdemania massiliensis is a Gram-positive, non-spore-forming, strictly anaerobic, non-motile, rod-shaped bacterium. It has been detected in at least 7 gut microbiome compilation studies or metastudies. The DNA G+C content is 47.1%. Holdemania massiliensis is probably a common, although minor, coloniser of the gut. (Mishra2013b; Pfleiderer2013; Pfleiderer2018)



  • This organism has been recovered from human faeces (anorexia nervosa patient). Pathogenicity status unknown, or very unlikely to be pathogenic. Is a known gut commensal.
