Overview

  • Hydrogenovibrio crunogenus, (aka Thiomicrospira crunogena), is a Gram-negative, non-spore-forming, strictly aerobic, motile, vibrio bacterium. The DNA G+C content is 41.8-42.6%. Hydrogenovibrio crunogenus is likely to be transient and not a long-term gut coloniser. (Boden2017; Jannasch1985)

  • This organism has been recovered from a deep-sea hydrothermal vent. The risk classification (www.baua.de) for this organism is 1, i.e., low risk of infection and spread. Pathogenicity status unknown, or very unlikely to be pathogenic. Likely to be transient and not a long-term gut commensal.

  • QUIRKS
  • Obligate aerobe and low optimum temperature suggest it is not a gut coloniser.
