Overview

  • Lapidilactobacillus dextrinicus, (aka Lactobacillus dextrinicus), is a Gram-positive, non-spore-forming, facultatively anaerobic, non-motile, coccus bacterium. It has been detected in at least 1 gut microbiome compilation study or metastudy. The DNA G+C content is 40.6%. Lapidilactobacillus dextrinicus is unlikely to be a gut coloniser. (Coster1964; Back1978; Haakensen2009)

  • This organism has been recovered from a brewery (silage) and has been detected in human faeces (Bilen2018e). Pathogenicity status unknown, or very unlikely to be pathogenic. Likely to be transient and not a long-term gut commensal.
