Overview

  • Lelliottia amnigena, (aka Enterobacter amnigenus), is a Gram-negative, non-spore-forming, facultatively anaerobic, motile, rod-shaped bacterium. It has been detected in at least 2 gut microbiome compilation studies or metastudies. The DNA G+C content is 54.2%. Lelliottia amnigena is probably a rare gut coloniser. (Brady2013; Izard1981a)

  • This organism has been recovered from trees (wetwood disease), soil, clinical sources (wound, infection - CCUG) and human faeces (Alkhalil2017 - including ulcerative colitis patients). The risk classification (www.baua.de) for this organism is 2, i.e., risk of individual infection, but low risk of spread. It is an opportunistic pathogen. A possible gut commensal.
