Overview

  • Levilactobacillus brevis subsp. gravesensis, (aka Lactobacillus brevis subsp. gravesensis), is a Gram-positive, non-spore-forming, facultatively anaerobic, non-motile, rod-shaped bacterium. It has been detected in at least 2 gut microbiome compilation studies or metastudies. The DNA G+C content is 44-47%. Levilactobacillus brevis subsp. gravesensis is likely to be transient and not a long-term gut coloniser. (Hammes2011dBergey)

  • This organism has been recovered from dairy and other fermenting food. Pathogenicity status unknown, or very unlikely to be pathogenic. Likely to be transient and not a long-term gut commensal.
