Overview

  • Microbacterium aurum is a Gram-positive, non-spore-forming, aerobic, non-motile, rod-shaped bacterium. It has been detected in at least 3 gut microbiome compilation studies or metastudies. The DNA G+C content is 69.2%. Microbacterium aurum is probably a rare gut coloniser. (Pfleiderer2013; Yokota1993; Suzuki2012Bergey)

  • This organism has been recovered from human faeces, clinical sources (blood - CCUG) and corn steep liquor. The risk classification (www.baua.de) for this organism is 1, i.e., low risk of infection and spread. Is a rare opportunistic pathogen. A possible gut commensal.
