Overview

  • Murdochiella vaginalis is a Gram-positive, non-spore-forming, strictly anaerobic, non-motile, coccus bacterium. It has been detected in at least 2 gut microbiome compilation studies or metastudies. The DNA G+C content is 49.5%. Murdochiella vaginalis is probably a rare gut coloniser. (Diop2017a)

  • This organism has been recovered from a vaginal sample from an ill patient, France. It is an opportunistic pathogen. Likely to be transient and not a long-term gut commensal.

  • QUIRKS
  • In 4% of Europeans (unseenbio.com). Rare coloniser.
