Overview

  • Neisseria shayeganii is a Gram-negative, non-spore-forming, facultatively anaerobic, non-motile, diplococci bacterium. It has been detected in at least 1 gut microbiome compilation study or metastudy. Neisseria shayeganii is probably a rare gut coloniser. (Wolfgang2011)

  • This organism has been recovered from clinical sources (sputum, wound). Can cause opportunistic infections, particularly in immunocompromised people. A possible gut commensal.
