  • Nocardia otitidiscaviarum is a Gram-positive, aerobic, non-motile, filamentous bacterium. It has been detected in at least 1 gut microbiome compilation study or metastudy. The DNA G+C content is 66-67%. Nocardia otitidiscaviarum is probably a rare gut coloniser. (Goodfellow2012Bergey)



  • This organism has been recovered from guinea pig ear infection, soil and clinical sources. The risk classification (www.baua.de) for this organism is 2, i.e., risk of individual infection, but low risk of spread (notes: human and animal pathogen). Pathogenicity status unknown, or very unlikely to be pathogenic. A possible gut commensal.
