Overview

  • Olsenella phocaeensis, (aka Olsenella phoceensis), is a Gram-positive, spore-forming, strictly anaerobic, coccus bacterium. It has been detected in at least 2 gut microbiome compilation studies or metastudies. Olsenella phocaeensis is probably a rare gut coloniser. (Zgheib2021; Ricaboni2017a)



  • This organism has been recovered from the right colon of a 60 yo patient. Pathogenicity status unknown, or very unlikely to be pathogenic. A possible gut commensal.
