Overview

  • Paenibacillus antibioticophila is a Gram-positive, spore-forming, facultatively anaerobic, motile, rod-shaped bacterium. It has been detected in at least 3 gut microbiome compilation studies or metastudies. The DNA G+C content is 49.1%. Paenibacillus antibioticophila is probably a rare gut coloniser. (Dubourg2015)

  • This organism has been recovered from human faeces (woman with multiresistant TB). Pathogenicity status unknown, or very unlikely to be pathogenic. A possible gut commensal.
