Overview

  • Paenibacillus motobuensis is a Gram-negative, spore-forming, facultatively anaerobic, motile, rod-shaped bacterium. It has been detected in at least 2 gut microbiome compilation studies or metastudies. The DNA G+C content is 47.0%. Paenibacillus motobuensis is probably a rare gut coloniser. (Iida2005)

  • This organism has been recovered from human faeces, clinical sources (blood, tissue - CCUG) and soil from Japan. The risk classification (www.baua.de) for this organism is 1, i.e., low risk of infection and spread. Could be a possible pathogen in humans, but unknown at this stage. A possible gut commensal.
