Overview

  • Pasteurella aerogenes is a Gram-negative, non-spore-forming, facultatively anaerobic, non-motile, filamentous bacterium. The DNA G+C content is 41.8%. Pasteurella aerogenes is probably a rare gut coloniser. (Christensen2005; McAllister1974)

  • This organism has been recovered from pigs, including intestines. The risk classification (www.baua.de) for this organism is 2, i.e., risk of individual infection, but low risk of spread (notes: zoonotic pathogen). Pathogenicity status unknown, or very unlikely to be pathogenic. A possible gut commensal.
