Overview

  • Peptoniphilus duerdenii is a Gram-positive, strictly anaerobic, coccus bacterium. It has been detected in at least 4 gut microbiome compilation studies or metastudies. The DNA G+C content is 33.4%. Peptoniphilus duerdenii is probably a rare gut coloniser. (UlgerToprak2012)

  • This organism has been recovered from human faeces and clinical sources (vaginal abscess). Is a rare opportunistic pathogen. Likely to be transient and not a long-term gut commensal.
