Overview

  • Peptoniphilus phoceensis is a Gram-positive, non-spore-forming, anaerobic, motile, coccus bacterium. It has been detected in at least 2 gut microbiome compilation studies or metastudies. The DNA G+C content is 31.2%. Peptoniphilus phoceensis is probably a rare gut coloniser. (Mourembou2016c; Diouf2021)

  • This organism has been recovered from human faeces (healthy, Bilen2018e). Pathogenicity status unknown, or very unlikely to be pathogenic. A possible gut commensal. Robust growth can have unknown consequences for gut health.
