Overview

  • Peptostreptococcus russellii is a Gram-positive, non-spore-forming, strictly anaerobic, non-motile, coccus bacterium. It has been detected in at least 2 gut microbiome compilation studies or metastudies. The DNA G+C content is 35.6%. Peptostreptococcus russellii is probably a rare gut coloniser. (Whitehead2011)

  • This organism has been recovered from pig manure and has been detected in human faeces (Bilen2018e). Pathogenicity status unknown, or very unlikely to be pathogenic. A possible gut commensal.
