Overview

  • Phocaeicola paurosaccharolyticus, (aka Bacteroides paurosaccharolyticus), is a Gram-negative, non-spore-forming, strictly anaerobic, non-motile, rod-shaped bacterium. It has been detected in at least 3 gut microbiome compilation studies or metastudies. The DNA G+C content is 41.0%. Phocaeicola paurosaccharolyticus is probably a rare gut coloniser. (Ueki2011)

  • This organism has been recovered from a cow waste methane generator, Japan. Pathogenicity status unknown, or very unlikely to be pathogenic. A possible gut commensal.
